BBC journalist Ciru Muriuki says that grief has made her fearless and it is the worst thing she has ever imagined.

Ciru who lost her dad last year says death made her realise just how short life is.

In a post on her Instagram, she wrote;

"Grief has made me fearless. If the worst thing I could ever have imagined has happened and I’m still standing, what else can’t I do? I used to be afraid of setting boundaries, telling people how I really felt and calling them out if I felt they weren’t acting right," she said.

According to her, the grief of losing her father has made her intentional and compassionate.

"When my father died so suddenly, that more than anything showed me just how short life is. I am more alive to this than I have ever been. So I am grabbing opportunities. I’m being more shameless in my self-promotion. And I try my best to show up for the people I love."

On Father's Day, Ciru shared an emotional piece dedicated to her late father.
