Kenyan journalist Larry Madowo has announced that he is taking a break to attend to his ailing Grandmother.

According to the CNN reporter, the past few weeks have been draining as his grandmother is fighting for her life in hospital.

"It’s been emotionally draining for me to talk about this story in such personal terms. I’m now pulling back to look after myself and care for my family. Please say a prayer for my grandma," Larry wrote in a tweet.

Larry has been sharing how his family has suffered from COVID-19, 3 members have succumbed to the disease.

For her grandmother, Larry is holding to hope that she will be out of the ventilator and also scared that she might die.

"Every time I see a call from home, my heart sinks. I always fear that they're ringing to say that my grandmother has died. She has been on a ventilator for four weeks and my anxiety is near breaking point. The dreaded call could come at any time: Covid-19," he shared on CNN

According to Larry Madowo, his family could not have fallen victim to the raging virus if there was access to vaccines in Kenya.
