Award-winning rapper Nyashinski and wife Zia Bett welcomed their son, a little over a year ago. To date, the couple has never posted a single photo of their child online.

Zia explained why.

"Social media is crazy, you can get criticism, bullied. Your kid could just be sitting there and people attack him just for no reason so I think that is our personal choice," she said.

Asked why she has made the decision to keep her child out of social media and how she deals with social media in-laws, Zia explained:

Zia added "For me, I would say, protect your unit, protect your family. Because at the end of the day, these are strangers, you don’t know them. They are strangers they don’t know you but if you put yourself out there, then expect it and be okay with it."

Zia highlighted that as a new mother, things are not as rosy as you would expect.

Speaking to vlogger Just Angie, Zia said, "I have always wanted to be a mum, I taught Sunday school for a few years at Nairobi Baptist. It has been amazing watching my son grown.

I definitely have more compassion for my mum because I understand the love she has for me now."

Talking about her pregnancy, Zia added:

"My pregnancy was not bad at all, the challenging part came after giving birth, no one tells you how challenging it is. It is a lot of work, it takes a lot of patience.

My sister and I were pregnant at the same time, we are two months apart. It was great to have support from her. It was her first baby as well."

The couple's son is now a year and three months old. Zia advised anyone planning to start the motherhood journey.

"Have children when you are ready don’t accept pressure from anyone be easy on yourself and have time for yourself. Take an hour for yourself, and that evolved into working out and nourish yourself and self-care."

She continued, "Every journey is different for me, I chose to keep my personal life away from social media. I would like my son to have a chance to choose whether he wants to be on social media or not."
