Bongo superstar Diamond Platnumz may have lost the BET award for Best International Act to Burna Boy. but he won the hearts of the netizens.

The Tanzanian star showed up for the award ceremony decked out in traditional Maasai attire.

In a statement this morning, Diamond wrote, "Kupitia tuzo hii nimeona ni kias gani watanzania tuna umoja, upendo na kuthamini vya kwetu...Nawashkuru sana kila mmoja wenu kwa upendo mkubwa mlionionesha.

(Through this award ceremony, BET Awards, I have seen how united Tanzanians are and loyal to our heritage. I thank each and every one of you for the overwhelming love you have shown me.)"

He added:

"Ni faraja kuona dunia inapotaja nchi zenye wanamuziki bora, Tanzania inatajwa, ni jambo la kumshukuru Mungu. (It is exciting to see that Tanzania is mentioned in the same breathe as other top countries that churn out musical talent. This is something to thank God for.)"

Diamond continued:

"Na naamini wakati mwingine tutaibeba...nitafarijika kesho na kesho kutwa msanii mwingine pia akiwa katika jambo la kuwakilisha Taifa tumpe nguvu kama mlionipa.... sis ni #SwahiliNation sisi ni Taifa la Waswahili.
