Victor Anane, a Ghanian citizen has been arrested for allegedly obtaining Kes 9 million from a senior manager of Tala Microfinance Company. 

The female manager met Victor on an online dating app and fell in love with him. She was promised a job promotion, and miracles to turn around her fortunes. 

The two had been dating for months but the lady had never gone to his house. She gave him the Kes 9 million which was from her personal account and accounts belonging to Tala agency.

When she was invited to the man's house in Athi River, she found some equipment associated with magical rituals and witchcraft.

The romantic date immediately turned ugly as the lady realized that she had been conned. This is when she realized that the man she had fallen in love with was not a preacher, but rather a sorcerer. 

She reported the incident to the DCI, who raided Victor's house and arrested him.

"Detectives raided the suspect’s house where the paraphernalia related to witchcraft was recovered. Also recovered from his house was Sh76,000 in fake currency and other materials used in the printing of fake notes. The investigators further established that the suspect who masquerades as a preacher, approaches innocent women looking for love and affection online, with promises of making their lives better before fraudulently obtaining money from them," stated the DCI.
