A lot of women, especially in Nairobi, have got unending "wars" with their hair. I mean nywele za kichwa. You will most likely spot a lady in neatly-braided hair today, and tomorrow, you will find the same lady in a hugging red Brazilian weave. All these in an effort to look smart, sexy and classy, most probably making it their most expensive beauty affair!

But who said that hair was the ultimate epitome of any woman's beauty, classiness or sexiness? I don't know and it always puzzles me.

Now, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, while speaking with the InStyle magazine where she's been featured on the cover for the April 2016 issue, said that it was possible for women to stay without hair on their heads.

“I wasn’t sure if I could pull off [the bald look]. Because hair is the frame of the face, right? And we spend so much time on it, trying to get it perfect. It often defines one’s beauty and feminine value. Almost on a whim, I was like, What if I didn’t have it? And so I shaved it all off – I was a complete baldy! It was shocking at first, especially for my mom. But I learned to embrace my features. And I like myself a lot more now that I’m not constantly fussing over my hair.”
