A standard eight pupil on Tuesday bled to death after he was allegedly stabbed by his classmate at Randani Primary School in Kenyenya Sub-county of Kisii County, in what has shocked residents in the area.

Police in Kenyenya led by the Sub-county Police Commander, Philip Oyugi, have since launched investigations into the inadvertent murder incident.

Oyugi said that the two minors, both aged 13 were slashing grass in the school grounds after opening school when one of them threw his slasher, stabbing his friend on the right thigh who bled profusely from the injury.

He said the deceased consequently bled to death after he was left lying at the scene of the incident for a long duration as the teachers were held up in a staff meeting unaware of what had taken place.

The pupil together with his classmates had just completed a task they had been given by their teachers to clear the compound on their first day in school for the 2020 academic year.

Parents to the victim, Simon Obare and Mirriam Kerubo have recorded statements with the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI).

An aunt to the deceased, Gladys Ondara, said her nephew showed up for lunch on Monday before he left for school in the afternoon with a panga.

“We are saddened with the loss but all we ask for is justice and speedy investigations by relevant Government agencies," said Ondara.

Zipporah Bitutu, a neighbor to the deceased faulted the school administration for delaying to ferry the deceased to hospital for treatment, saying death should not have occurred.

The body was moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting burial preparations.
