Universities are institutions of  tertiary education and research which grants academic degrees in various fields after studying for a set number of years. Having known that I took interest at taking an in-depth look at our institutions of higher learning to see which ones are scandal riddled and why. To start with.......

The University of Eldoret

Early this year on March 22, it was reported that a fourth year student was stabbed to death due to love triangle. Steve Wairimu, a hotel and hospitality management student at the University and a friend were said to have visited his girlfriend off-campus hostel at Pioneer Roma on the outskirts of Eldoret but found her with another man who was also a first-year student at the same university. He is said to have sustained multiple stab wounds in the stomach, kidney and heart.

Moi University

There were reported incidences that raised eyebrows from this uni. On Monday, June 5, 2016, media outlets reported that a mzungu by the name Donald who is an employee of Moi University was alleged to be filming women during s3x and was planning to post the videos online in a site that he was setting up.

Like this is not shocking enough, late last year, a Moi university girl shocked the nation after confessing he had infected 100+ individuals with HIV/AIDS. When asked why she did that, she replied it took her too long to get back at the the guy who broke her virginity and infected her with the virus during her first year in campus. To cup all this up, she has a list of all the men she had slept with.

Egerton University

It is rather shocking that the premier agricultural University at the heart of Njoro town has also hit the news headlines with shameless scandals. One media outlet reported,

"In 1999, a ‘sex for marks scandal’ erupted at the University after female students gave authorities names of lecturers who demanded sexual favours for passing grades. Six lecturers were suspended."

Nairobi Aviation college

This college made the news a year ago after it was exposed for being a fraudulent institution serving up 'manufactured' certificates and offering some of the shoddiest, lamest courses while at it (Remember the Certificate of Doom investigative?).

The University Of Nairobi

It is ranked among the best Kenyan public Universities. But when they go on a rampage, Nairobi grinds to a halt. That said, UON is on this list because of the numerous reports sex for marks, sex for money and sex for favours. Sex has been used as a currency in the institution.

One student confessed,

“Some of us receive a thousand shillings in two or three months from our parents, what does a thousand shillings do?” 

The various media reports claim that pressure to get extra coins in order to meet daily campus expenses and other necessities is what prompts most students to engage in the vice. Others however engage in the vice due to peer pressure. Also, sex is used to ensure while you are hustling to make money, you don't flank in your academics.
