Sex workers in Trans Nzoia could not have asked for a better Christmas after receiving some good tidings. Red Cross will be opening a private medical facility for them, in a bid to curb the spread of HIV/AIDs in the country. A mobile clinic was flagged off in Kitale town.

The Chairperson of Red Cross Society, Trans Nzoia Branch, Mr. Ronald Masindano said,

“The sexual workers have been facing difficulties in accessing medication at the Kitale Level Four Hospitals due to stigmatization and hence the society embarked on the initiative to offer an alternative medical centre.”

The sex workers who live far from the main town will be able to get service from the mobile clinic which cost 10 million shillings according to Masindano. Apart from HIV/AIDs diagnosis, it will also help in Tuberculosis treatment, cancer screening, counseling and other services for patients.
