On the 15 of January at around 3pm, al Shabaab militants unleashed terror on Kenya and her children when they attacked 14 Riverside Drive, a complex that has both hotels and offices.

The plan was simple, unleash horror and pandemonium. Everyone, including myself, was shocked at how fast Kenyans rallied to the aide of their compatriots who were either attempting to escape or still trapped in the complex.

And what was an even more welcome surprise was seeing Kenyans come out to support those tasked with the arduous job of rescuing the trapped civilians. I could go on about the scene but as they say, a photo is worth 1000 words. So here are 5 photos that show just how gritty we are as a people:
