Knowing how to behave in an official set up especially when you are new is very important. This article seeks to make you aware of what is expected of you.

Make sure your clothes fit

It may sound obvious, but many get it wrong. If your clothes are too big or too small, they are not going to look good.

For men ensure your tie is not too short, your shirt too small. For ladies ensure your shoes are fitting.

Oh and glasses to ensure they don't fall off your nose that could be distracting.

Understand what works for your industry

Everyone draws their lines differently.

For cooperates, ensure you are as official as possible.

For the fashion industry ensure you are setting trends.

If your company has a dress code, follow it!

Don't be too sexy

Not only is wearing inappropriate clothing distracting, but it can also give off an inaccurate impression.

Avoid too-short hemlines, too-tall heels, plunging necklines, and exposed undergarments.

Colleagues judge you from what they see every day.

If at all you want to show some skin, make sure some other areas are covered.

Do not wear strong perfume or cologne

Anything that anyone else can smell is not good.

Put on perfume that only people sitting around you can smell and not the whole office.

Watch how people react when they're around you.

Wear strong colors that portray authority

Dark colours like black make you look duller.

Bright colors make you look more awake and alert and ready to face the day.

Especially during the first day of the week, it is advisable that you look bright just to kick start your day.

Get regular pedicures.

f you are going to show your toes make sure they are done.

Unkempt toes will create an impression that you don't care how you look. Avoid that.

Don't over accessorize

Accessories are meant to complement your outfit, not overpower it.

Accessories are supposed to complement your look.

Minimize on things like rings and dangly bangles.
