Drama as arrested heroine peddler swallows sachets

A suspected drug peddler was yesterday afternoon rushed to hospital, after she swallowed four sachets suspected to contain heroin, to avoid arrest.

In the 1 pm incident that also left detectives bemused, 48-year-old Pauline Mugure swallowed the sachets in haste, after detectives based in Voi arrested her on suspicion of drug trafficking.

They immediately rushed her to Moi County Referral hospitality in Voi, for medical examination.

However, Further search in her house located at Maweni estate, led to the discovery of more sachets containing the substance.

Meanwhile, Two men are this morning expected in court after they were found with fake currencies worth Sh750 million.

The fake currencies included USD6.8 million, Eur490,000, and Sh6.4 million, was found neatly packed in notes in metal boxes.

The men identified as Samuel Maina and Boniface Mungai were arrested from an apartment in Kilimani area where they had kept the fake papers.

They will take plea at a Nairobi court.

Cases of handling of fake money have in the past months been on a decrease due to police operations.

Dozens of suspects have in the past months been arrested in connection with the incidents and charged in court.
