Dr Amakove Wala a friend and colleague to the late Dr Adisa Lugaliki has tested positive for COVID-19 just weeks after the burial.

The mother of four took to her social media to share the news adding that the first thing that came to her mind is the welfare of her kids.

'The last 2 days have been the longest ever of my life.

Going through a throat swab test then waiting for the results. Checking every now and then and when they finally came on 22nd July 2020 at 9pm, there it was in black and white: Covid-19 test results: POSITIVE.

I froze. I was numb. I felt I hadn't read well because I didn't have my glasses on. All I could think of were my family members. My young children. My ailing mother.

I've not slept.'

Liz further added,

'I've been down with flu-like symptoms for the past one week or so. I can't taste or smell anything. But my breathing is clear. No sore throat.

I've been overwhelmed by the concern and outpouring of love and advice on home-based remedies by family and friends.

I have people sending me baskets of fruits, others offering to take my troop away for the time being. I'm holed up in my bedroom to protect those I love.

And now there is nothing else to do but manage the symptoms and wait.

I struggled to pen this down but I said I must do it to break the stigma around Covid-19. It is real. It is in the community. Stay safe and follow the guidelines.

We keep hope alive.'

Being a medic, Amakove is constantly exposed, we pray she makes a quick recovery.

In the meantime continue to sanitize, wear your mask and maintain social distance.
