Do's and Don't's during your menstrual cycle

All women go through alot during their menses, and due to its stressful nature here are some do's and don't's that will help you cope with this difficult time of the month.

Now that we're talking about cravings,it's important to know what to eat and what to avoid at that time of the month for a smooth flow.

  1. Sugar and foods rich in salt

Sugar is known to make people cranky. Refined sugars found in foodstuff such as cakes, soda, pasta and white bread may make ladies easily irritable during that time of the month.

It is advisable to to eat small meals through out the day rather than the usual binge eating.

When in craving for sweet stuff eat fruits with natural sugars like berries. Avoid junk and potato crisps at all costs!

2. Avoid heavy work out

The drive for the 'perfect body'  is real, however intense activities in the gym may bring alot of complications as far as the menstrual cycle is concerned.

Taking it easy during the 3 day menstrual journey while dieting-low calories will come in handy.

3. Change the tampon or pad as often as possible

After every 3-4 hours upon putting on the tampon or pad, ladies are expected to change it to avoid odor.

There may be bacterial build up which could cause infection from the over usage of the tampons.

It may also result to the dreaded bleed to pants.

4. Avoid coffee and caffeine products

There's nothing like a cup of coffee in the morning.

As much as you may love your latte, it is advisable to skip it during that time of the month.

Caffeine is known to worsen discomforts from cramping and bloating.

5. Choose the non-spicy

Spicy food may also deteriorate the feelings while in your menstrual cycle.

It is therefore important that we avoid the spicy food it would lead to more gas and bloating.

You could however opt for natural spices like cardamon, coriander and fresh chili.
