Multi-talented Kenyan actress Katherine Kamau popularly known as Kate Actress has advised single mothers not to be desperate.

During a question and answer session with her followers, a fan asked her;

'Did it ever cross your mind that you might never find you a man as a single mother mom? If yes, how did you deal with it?'

Kate responded saying that the way a woman carries herself around points to her state of mind. She further urged single mothers to put their children first before anything else.

I honestly wasn't looking for a man because my heart was shattered then. I had committed myself to giving my son the best. Men can smell desperation miles away. They also notice a focused, ambitious woman especially one who loves her child unconditionally. I am talking about a real man here of course. THE WAY YOU carry and value yourself as a single mother will determine the kind of man you will unconsciously attract.

In a message to single mothers a year ago, Kate Actress shared a photo posing with her son on Instagram and captioned it;

It's not been an easy road, we will tell you our story some day. last year was our worst, but we thank God, I hope my journey will encourage many single mums out there to never give up hope. there are good men out there willing to love and respect you.

Kate was a single mother for quite a while until she met Phil Karanja - now her husband. She has in past interviews narrated that being a single mother wasn't easy and she was rejected by her family when she conceived.

My parents rejected me at first because they felt like I had brought shamed to them before the entire community.

The actress of the most popular TV drama series on air, Sue & Johnnie in another interview, she said;

I went to Kampala (International University in Uganda) in 2006 and did not complete my course because I got pregnant and came back to Nairobi. I made bad choices but I have turned my life around and my son, Leon Kamau, is the most important thing to me now. My mum always jokes that he is the degree I brought from Uganda.

Her parents later forgave her, took her in and helped her raised her son, who's now in Class 8.
