Birthdays have always been special days. Celebrities take time to plan parties - either for themselves or loves ones - as they turn a year old. This was not the case with Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz. The Salome hitmaker chose to spend his 27th birthday with the less fortunate of society, orphans.

Diamond explained on his social media pages, "Just decided to spend my birthday with orphans.... eating food and cake together."

This post was accompanied with a video of the celebration. In it, Diamond was accompanied by his usual entourage and his wife, Zari Hassan.

Unofficially, Diamond also celebrated him birthday away from the limelight, with his "boys" but still let his fans in on the festivities.

Baba Tiffah posted a video where he was preparing to get the traditional "bathday" gift. This is a custom where the birthday boy gets doused with a pail of cold water as an initiation of becoming a year older.

To prepare for the "bathday", he took his clothes off.

You can see him saying "I have already taken off my clothes" in anticipation of his friends pouring water on him.

He wrote,

"Kwakuwa nawajua wote dhamila yao ilikuwa wananivizia kunilowesha nikaamua kubaki na boxer kabisa ili isiwe tabu tukaaribiana nguo za ngama..."
