OLX has many types of characters. So once in a while it you may encounter an oddball offer on the site that puts buyers and sellers together.

This morning we came face to face with a rather odd seller. The seller is an enterprising and crazy woman who is trying to sell her unborn child. The lady says that she lives in Thika says that she is 7 months pregnant at the moment.

We here at Mpasho.co.ke were astounded by what she was doing and had to call her to find out if she was serious.

The lady was dead-serious. She said:

"Niko serious. Kabisa!"

We prodded further to find out if she was serious. We wanted to find out whether there would be documents to be signed to make sure that it was irreversible.

She answered:

"Hiyo pia nimekubali!" 

What about the father of the unborn child getting in the way? She said:

"Hayuko!"

The lady was very candid and said that the unborn child was her second child. Her first child was 4 years old. She also explained that there was a hospital in Thika that she usually went to.

And the most important question was yet to be asked. Why was she selling the unborn baby? She explained rather matter of factly:

"Mimi siko ready. Hakuna venye atakaa. Yaani siko stable. Sina job. Na Baba mtoto aliruka" 

And had other people inquired about her ad on OLX? She answered that two more people had also called to inquire.

This is truly sad. Under the law It is illegal, every child is entitled to protection from physical, psychological, sexual, neglect and any other form of exploitation including sale, trafficking or abduction by any person.

I empathize with this woman. Seeing no way out to her predicament but to sell her own child. This is tragic!
