NTV news anchor Dennis Okari has today morning revealed that he was on board a Silverstone Aircraft heading to Eldoret when they also experienced a terrifying mishap on the runway at Wilson Airport.

"I was on board @silverstoneair in the morning at 7:15am - Eldoret," adding, "And met some of the passengers on that flight to Mombasa."

Okari explains that some of the reasons the Silverstone flight to Lamu may have crashed would have been conditions on the runway.

"The runway was very wet but what struck me was the potholes. Our pilot was literally dodging them as we taxied. We hit two of them hard #WilsonAirport."

Okari shared this photo from inside the aircraft.

Silverstone Air released a statement following the Friday morning accident stating, "We can confirm that our Fokker 50, 5Y-IZO, had an incident while taking off at 9:00 AM...The passengers and crew have been safely disembarked and we are currently working with the relevant authorities to assess the situation."

The aircraft had 55 people on board (50 passengers and 5 crew).

According to the Kenya Airports Authority, two passengers were slightly injured and are receiving treatment.

Here are some reactions from KOT.

@FrankMtetezi: Potholes on the runway ?? Wilson Airport management should be held Responsible

@MukuriaEvanson: Potholes on a runway, that's total negligence 😭😭😭

@Kensmalling2: Thank God you are alive bro.

@pewter_schmidt: Dodging potholes? If a plane can't taxi evenly then it may likely lose lift...and crash in the end..air must flow through its wings evenly...if it does not the plane will ultimately crash. Thank God you are alive Dennis..

@jkimonyi: If Wilson's Airport runway had potholes, a NOTAM would have already been issued. So I guess you confused the TAXIWAY with RUNWAY.
