The people of Homabay county have voted Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)’s Moses Kajwang as their Senator in a hotly contested by-election.

However, democracy has been in question from the time Otieno Kajwang's brother was handed a direct nomination by ODM party, forcing other candidates to defect to other little known parties. Raila Odinga also received a backlash after endorsing ODM's Moses Kajwang during Fidel Odinga's burial in Bondo.

Kajwang beat other candidates to retain the seat held by his late brother Otieno Kajwang who passed on in November last year.
