The Kenyan football fraternity is mourning the demise of a talented young footballer Eric Shikanda of Uweza soccer academy based in Kibera Nairobi County. Popularly known as  Eric Decaprio LeMarveil Shikanda on Facebook, the deceased, who was the captain of Uweza, passed away on Saturday at the St. Mary's Hospital Lang'ata after a long illness.

Local footballers took to social media to condole with the family of the late and his personal coach Godfrey "Solo" Oduor described Shikanda as a good, humble, calm, respectful and a motivational player

"He was a very good player. He was a winner, and a role model to many. Shikanda was a darling to many especially the kids who play in the Kibra league. Whenever we had matches, Shikanda  supported the young upcoming stars, he was our photographer. As a family, we will miss him so much,"
