On 27 September 2018 Mpasho inadvertently published a story with the headline 'Patricia Kihoro comes out as a lesbian'.

The story was in reference to Miss Kihoro's statements at a press briefing at the screening of the film Rafiki. We immediately deleted the story once we realized that the reporter who did the story had misquoted Miss Kihoro.

Miss Kihoro did not come out as a lesbian during the press briefing. She only demonstrated compassion and commiseration with a demographic of the LGBT population. We would like to apologize to Miss Kihoro for any harm or embarrassment caused by the already deleted story. Mpasho was neither acting out of malice nor did we intend to jeopardize her standing in society.
