It’s a dark month for the Kenya athletics community. World Record holder and two-time Olympics champion in the men’s 800m, David Rudisha, is mourning the death of his father.
Rudisha’s father, Daniel Matasi Rudisha, suffered a heart attack at 11pm on Wednesday and passed away while receiving treatment in hospital. He had been admitted and was recuperating after he was taken out of the Intensive Care Unit when he suffered a heart attack.
Speaking to Sport Pesa news, Rudisha confirmed the passing on of his father, he said:
Our beloved father sadly left us last night. He had recovered and was on his way to fine health having been taken off the Intensive Care Unit.
