Popular gospel singer Daddy Owen (below) has hit out at fellow artistes Willy Paul and Bahati for their “lack of maturity” in dealing with their differences.

Daddy Owen blamed has criticized the two for the manner in which they handled the fiasco surrounding accusations by Bahati that Willy Paul had “stolen” a number of his songs.

“You know, what I have learnt is that many of these young artists don’t even go to church. They also lack mentorship — both spiritually and as musicians. In the case of Willy and Bahati, both of them needed to understand that this is not just a music industry. It’s a ministry. A ministry that’s not there for someone else but to serve God” Owen said.

“They didn’t know that all those things they were accusing each other of also happen among us ‘mature’ artistes. All it takes is to identify the right channel or platform to resolve them. It was not wise at all for them to take all that to the public,” he added.

It’s because of such “annoying” scenarios that Owen has decided to start an initiative titled Beats & Blessings University, aiming at offering mentorship, both spiritual and musical, to young gospel music artistes.

“Ask every artiste who has been in the industry for over 10 years and he or she will tell you about their mentors. So, basically the initiative will be focusing on recruiting young artistes in a bid to set a better foundation for them. I will be taking them to record both the audio and videos to their songs and making sure that, among other things, they attend church,” says Owen.
