Daniel Moi’s son, Gideon Moi held a press conference in the morning and spoke about the family’s last moments with the iconic leader.
“Mzee passed on this morning at around 5.20am. He went peacefully. We want to thank Kenyans for your prayers,” Gideon Moi said.
“I take this opportunity to give my heartfelt gratitude to all Kenyans and non-Kenyans for the prayers and thoughts you have given to our family and Mzee, thank you.”
Moi’s other son, Raymond also released a statement saying,
“It is with great sorrow that we have to announce the death of my father, the 2nd president of Kenya. He was with my bro Sen Gideon When he died.”
“I would like to thank the president and his emissaries and every Kenyan. We’ll issue a detailed statement on what happened in the last 3 months. Moi could be older than 95; we are celebrating his life.”
