Any showbiz industry is not complete without the LGBT family. They add color to the industry and from Nigeria's Bobrisky to South Africa's Castro Semenya, these gay men are doing great.

In Kenya, we have quite a number of gays, who in one way or another have contributed to the growth of the entertainment industry.

Although they face several challenges among them discrimination, gay people the likes of Binyavanga Wainana have risen above the hatred and soaring high.

The Gay rights activist is such a cutie.

He's a force to reckon with and he recently wrote an article advising gay men to be cautious.

"ACTIVISTS, GROWING CONCERNED WERE FORCED IN A BOX. HOW DO YOU REPORT A CRIME WHEN IT WAS DONE, ESSENTIALLY, WHEN ANOTHER CRIME WAS BEING DONE? HOW DO YOU GO TO A POLICE STATION TO REPORT THAT SOMEONE HAS BEEN ASSAULTED, OR RAPED, IN ANOTHER MAN’S HOUSE, WHO HE MET ONLINE, OSTENSIBLY FOR SEX? ON THE OTHER HAND, VICTIMS WERE AFRAID OF MAKING POLICE STATEMENTS AS MOST WERE NOT KNOWN TO BE GAY AND DID NOT WANT THE CASES TO GO FORWARD OUT OF FEAR OF BEING OUTED AS GAY. WE WERE IN A FIX,"read part of his article.

2. Robettah

He's a socialite. The self-proclaimed high-class gay will do anything for fame. He's known for his well-arched eyebrows and makeup always on fleek.

3. Joji Baro

The gospel singer living with HIV is also a blogger.

He is always on the forefront fighting for the rights of homosexuals and recently, he revealed that 'I’m afraid that I might die before I see change, so I try to bring change myself.' Joji Baro was disowned by his family.

"MY FAMILY EJECTED ME FROM HOME FOR BEING GAY, AND I HAD TO DROP OUT OF SCHOOL DUE TO LACK OF MONEY. THAT’S HOW I BECAME AN ACTIVIST AND ARTIST. I HAVE BEEN EVICTED AND ARRESTED COUNTLESS TIMES FOR BEING GAY. AGAINST ALL ODDS, I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY BUILT MY NICHE IN THE ENTERTAINMENT AND HUMAN RIGHTS SECTOR. WHAT BREAKS MY HEART IS THAT I CANNOT ACHIEVE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE, SUCH AS FINDING THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. PEOPLE AVOID ME EITHER BECAUSE I’M OPENLY GAY OR HIV POSITIVE," he wrote in an opinion piece.

4. Letoya Johnstone

The transgender is a runway model trainer and is a bold woman.

Letoya, has gone through a lot in the local showbiz industry and she revealed that finding love is not easy.

"THE DIVA THAT NEVER BOW DOWN;

EVERY CHILD BATTLES WITH SO MANY DEMONS FOR THEIR VOICE TO BE HEARD. I AM NOT AN EXCEPTION. MINE JUST HAPPENS TO BE A LITTLE COMPLICATED BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT STAND IN MY WAY. THIS IS INCLUSIVE OF MY CAREER, LIFE IN GENERAL AND THE LIST GOES ON. EVERY SINGLE DAY I WAKE UP AND I DOUBT LOVE, KINDNESS, ACCEPTANCE AND EVEN GLORY. WELL, I MIGHT NOT BE THE ONLY KID OR PERSON WHO MIGHT FEEL THIS WAY. THE WORLD IS SO BIG AND EVERY INDIVIDUAL IS JUST AN AUTHOR OF THEIR OWN STORIES. I CHOSE TO SHARE THE TIP OF ICEBAG WITH SOMEONE SO THAT ONE DAY WHEN I DIE, I WILL RISE. AND YES, YOU CAN’T DATE WHEN NO ONE WANTS YOU. PEOPLE FALL IN LOVE UNFORTUNATELY LOVE WILL NEVER BE ON MY SIDE. SINGLE TILL I Die."
