Cristiano Ronaldo has amassed over half a billion followers on social media, with the majority of them coming through Instagram.

The Portuguese international, a five-time Ballon d'Or winner not only continues to set records on the pitch but also off the pitch as he is the first person to reach 500 million followers on social media.

The 36-year-old phenomenon has over 125 million likes on his official page on Facebook, over 261 million followers on Instagram and 91 million followers on Twitter.

Funny enough he has over 1.72 million subscribers on YouTube despite not using his account for the last four years.

Reports claim that social media giants Instagram have around 1 billion users which means that around 15% of the platform's users are following Ronaldo.

On Instagram alone, he has more followers than all the combined 20 teams of EPL with his page being mostly followed by anyone in the world.

The second-most followed person on Instagram is American singer, Ariana Grande while his eternal rival, Lionel Messi, has over 183m followers on Instagram.
