A Ugandan man has astonished people after being accused of killing his 9-year-old nephew, cutting him into pieces before proceeding to give his wife the boy's remains to cook.

According to NTV Uganda, the 34-year-old suspect was arrested by the police in the Ntungamo district.

The suspect allegedly cut pieces of the victim's body and put them in a pot, which he gave to his wife with the condition of preparing food last Sunday.

However, once his wife discovered that her husband had given her pieces of a human body to cook, she reportedly raised an alarm, attracting the attention of other residents.

The residents confirmed that the body parts belonged to a 9-year-old boy, the son of the suspect's elder brother. The suspect was handed over to the police by the residents.

"He [the suspect] was left at home with the child while his wife and their child went to church. When the wife returned from church, her husband told her that he had bought meat, and it was in the cooking pot. He instructed his wife to cook it immediately because he was hungry," said Mr. John Kabeho, a councilor in the Rubaare Sub-county, according to the Daily Monitor.

He added, "When the wife entered the kitchen, she found pieces of human flesh cut up in the pot."

Mr. Kabeho stated that the suspect had been experiencing mental health problems since 2020 and had been hospitalized several times.

"He was taken to the hospital three years ago when he had mental health problems, but he recovered later and returned home. However, he continued to show signs of mental health problems and was often prayed for at the church. The family says he had fully recovered," Mr. Kabeho said.
