Under unclear circumstances, a 25-year-old woman named Christine Auma was tragically killed by unknown assailants at Kamwala village in Boya sublocation, Ndhiwa constituency on Wednesday.
Auma was cooking in her kitchen on Wednesday night when suspected criminals broke in and attacked her. During the incident, her husband and relatives were in a separate building's sitting room, awaiting supper.
Assistant Chief Milton Kawino reported that Auma's husband heard a loud bang on the kitchen door, prompting them to investigate. Upon reaching the kitchen, they discovered Auma's lifeless body in a pool of blood, with her head missing.
Further examination of the kitchen revealed that the assailants had beheaded the woman, using a panga (machete), leaving her head separated from the body.
The husband raised an alarm, attracting other residents to the scene. Despite efforts to gather information from residents, no one witnessed the assailants, and they vanished without a trace.
Ndhiwa subcounty police commander Paul Rioba stated that investigations have commenced to determine the motive and identity of the attackers.
"The assailants were not seen, and the motive of the attack has not been established. We are investigating the matter," Rioba said.
The victim's body has been transferred to the Manyatta Kobodo mortuary.
