This is not the first time a motorist has sped off without paying after refueling at a petrol station.
In April this year, another motorist was on the spot after speeding off with a petrol station bill of Sh3,300.
The incident occurred at a petrol station along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
The driver of the said vehicle knocked down a female fuel attendant as he avoided paying for the fuel and proceeded to speed off.
On the morning of April 14, 2018, another motorist caused a fire at Vivo Shell petrol station in Kasarani after he sped off to avoid paying for fuel while the pump nozzle was still inside his vehicle’s fuel tank.
"Friction between the ground and the pump produced sparks which ignited a fire that quickly spread,” the Energy Regulatory Commission said in a statement.
Firefighters from the county government helped in putting out the fire.
The station was extensively damaged although no injuries were reported in the 7 am incident.
The culprit was arrested later that day.
