Police are looking for a man who chopped his brother’s hand in a fight over land in a village in Meru County.

The incident happened in Kaurinene village in Antuambui location, Igembe area, and involved two brothers.

Police who visited the scene said they found one Moris Murithi with a severed right hand.

His assailant had escaped the scene. The victim was rushed to hospital and admitted in serious condition.

He also had a deep cut on his head by the time he was taken to hospital, police said.

Witnesses said the two engaged in a physical fight before the assailant attacked the victim in the wrist area chopping it.

In the same area, of Kanda sub-location, a villager was killed by a brother in law in a fight over money.

Police said Josephat Michubu was hacked by a panga in the head.

He died at Nyambene sub-county hospital, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy as the hunt on the assailant goes on. The incidents happened on Wednesday evening.

Police say such attacks are common in the area and want locals to solve disputes amicably.

And in Jogoo area, Kisii County, a body of a man was found in a house after suspected murder.

A second victim was rescued from the house with deep cuts on the head and taken to hospital unconscious.

The men had been attacked in their house by unknown people after being tied with a rope on their hands.

Police handling the incident said they are yet to establish the motive of the attack on the two men.

The police are waiting for the man who survived to recover and explain what happened.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy as the hunt for the suspected assailants goes on.

Such incidents are usually committed by vigilante groups operating in the area with the knowledge of authorities, investigations have shown.
