A KCSE candidate in Kitui County has been charged with a sexual offence.

The student was accused of sodomizing a fellow student at the school.

He is said to have committed the crime between April 14 and 16.

He appeared before the Kitui Resident Magistrate Justine Asiago and denied the charges.

He was granted a Sh200,000 bond with a similar surety or a cash bail of Sh100,000. The case will be mentioned on June 29.

The Star has reliably learned that soon after reports of the sodomy incident were reported to the school management in late April, the suspect was immediately suspended from the school.

The school management later commenced a probe into the matter.

However, the complainant’s parents later reported the matter to the police who also launched investigations.

It was while on suspension that the accused was arrested by the police and brought be for the court in Kitui on Thursday to answer to the charges.
