Starehe DCI detectives are hunting for three suspects who raided a drinking joint in Ruaraka’s Kasabuni area and ordered all revellers to lie down before ransacking their pockets and fleeing.

Police said the three suspects had a firearm and had initially posed as people of unsound mind carrying sacks on their backs as they entered the pub.

"Those at the pub went on drinking until one of the suspects pulled out a rifle from his sack and ordered everyone to lie down," detectives said.

Police said the suspects then went ahead to ransack people's pockets for mobile phones, cash and other valuables.

One of the people at the bar went ahead to insult the suspects.

This prompted the suspects to fire two rounds in the air attracting the attention of police officers on patrol, who immediately rushed to the scene.

However, by the time of their arrival, the suspects had vanished into darkness.

Police said two empty cartridges of 7.62mm were collected at the scene.

Meanwhile, police are pursuing leads into the whereabouts of the suspects masquerading as beggars.

The spent cartridges have since been sent to the DCI National Forensic Laboratory for scientific analysis by ballistic experts.
