Police are investigating the discovery of a woman’s body that was stuffed in a sack in Nairobi River.

A man who was collecting plastic bottles in Gituamba area, California told police he stumbled on the body in the sack floating on the water.

Police who visited the scene said the body had been tied in the sack, which was washed downstream and that they had yet to identify it.

The body had no visible injuries at the time of its discovery and seemed two days old.

Police said the body was discovered on May 4 at about 2 pm and later taken to the mortuary for identification and autopsy.

In Kiambu town, police said they found a body of a woman in an abandoned house.

The body was lying half naked facing downwards and police suspect she is aged 32.

There was blood oozing from the woman’s mouth at the time of the discovery, police said.

In Kibera slums, the body of a man aged about 35 was found lying on the road with injuries in the chest and head.

Police said they arrived at the scene and took the body to the mortuary pending probe.

Cases of discovery of bodies have been on the rise amid probe. Some of the cases are still pending under probe.

Meanwhile, police are investigating an incident in which a bodaboda rider was stabbed and killed in an attack in Kariadudu area, Nairobi.

Amos Onyango, 31, is said to have been stabbed by a pillion passenger he had carried on Saturday night.

This was after the two had argued over unclear reasons.

Onyango was taken to a local hospital with stab wounds in the chest and succumbed minutes later as he had bled profusely, officials there said.

Witnesses said they saw the deceased being stabbed in the chest and back of his hands.

The assailant then used a stone to hit him in the head and fled on foot leaving him at the scene.

The motive of the incident is yet to be known, Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said.

He said they are probing the matter and hope to arrest the assailant.
