Police in Busia have arrested two women who were transporting heroin from Kampala to Mombasa at the Busia One Stop Border Post at 12.40 am.
According to county forensic crime scene officer Shem Othoo, the narcotic drug is estimated to be Sh20 million in street value.
Confirming the arrest, Busia acting county commissioner Kipchumba Ruto said that the security multi-agency team managed to nab the two women after the digital scanner at BOSBP detected the substance which was well packed in the suitcase.
“While searching the checked-in bags of the two passengers four sachets containing white powdery substances suspected to be narcotics was s discovered,” Ruto said.
The two were found to have two suitcases containing the substance and one digital weighing machine.
"A greyish suitcase had concealed the sachets in the false bottom of the suitcase in the vehicle’s boot, also the suitcase was conducted and a small digital weighing machine and a Kenyan ID were also recovered, " Ruto said.

The arrest comes merely two days after the security multi-agency team blocked porous routes along the border.
