Residents of Gacuku village in Embu county were shocked after they found the headless body of a newborn baby dumped in a field.

The body was found by a woman who was in her field harvesting beans when she stepped on the bag and called villagers.

Eyewitnesses were shocked saying that they had never seen such a crazy thing. They added that the body had signs of being cut by a human being and not eaten by animals.

The head of police in East Embu Sub-county Mr. Emmanuel Okanda said an investigation has been launched into the incident.

"We have started the investigation of the incident and we are calling on the villagers to help us reveal the killer," he was quoted by a local newspaper.

Mr. Okanda said the investigating officers were handling the matter with due seriousness and no stone would be left unturned.

"This is a serious issue and we will not rest until the criminal is identified and brought to justice," said Mr Okanda.

The incident comes just two weeks after a similar incident was reported in the Loitoktok area of Kajiado county where the body of a grade 6 child was found wrapped in a sack.

The child was said to have had his eyes gouged out, one of his legs broken and his private parts were badly damaged, indicating that the killers might have raped him before killing him and wrapping his body in a sack before throwing it in the field.
