Suspect arrested for alleged involvement in the gorging out of Baby Sagini's eyes.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection to gouging out the eyes of a three-year-old boy in Kisii.

Alex Maina Ochoki was arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Sunday evening.

Three other suspects connected to the incident - a form 3 student from a local school, a middle-aged man, and a woman- went through a 10-hour interrogation before being released.

Ochoki is set to appear before the Kisii law courts today, Monday, December 19, as DCI officers plan to seek custodial orders to pave way for further investigations.

He was being held at Marani police station.

Sagini's mother Maureen Nyaboke, 28, has also been apprehended and is set to face charges of child negligence.

The boy was found dumped at his family’s banana plantation on Thursday with his face covered with blood after being kidnapped on Wednesday evening.

The minor was rushed to the Kisii Eye Hospital where he is recuperating in the general ward after a surgical procedure.
