According to a report in the Standard, police have discovered CCTV footage that shows the last moments of Daniel Musyoka, the missing Embakasi East Returning Officer.
Sleuths told the paper that Musyoka left the tallying center and walked toward a nearby bus station, according.
According to an officer who has knowledge of the situation, Musyoka was relaxed and showed no signs of concern.
Police went on to prove that, contrary to what had been reported in early reports, Musyoka had not made or received any calls.
Further, inspection led the officer to conclude that Musyoka was not being followed by a car or person.
Anyone with information on his location was urged to contact the nearest station by the police.
This new information comes after initial reports stated that the IEBC official had excused himself to take a call before he inexplicably disappeared.
IEBC chair, Wafula Chebukati, raised an alert after the report was released.
"The Returning Officer has been reported missing from the Embakasi tallying center. Reports received by the Commission indicated that at around 9am yesterday, he was escorted to the tallying center by his bodyguard. At around 9:45am, he excused himself to make a phone call but did not return to the office," Chebukati stated on Friday, August 12.
This past weekend, Musyoka's wife, Tabitha Mbolu, emphasized that there was no indication from their final chat that he was having problems at work.
"We frequently had a conversation before he left for work and after he got home in the evening. He and I last chatted at noon on Wednesday. He acknowledged that there was a lot of work, but he reassured me that he would return home right away. He didn't disclose to me that he was having any problems at work," Tabitha recalled.
She added that they had searched unsuccessfully for him since he disapeared including hospitals, pharmacies, and even the morgue, but to no effect.
