A police officer was yesterday arrested for abandoning his duties to watch over KCSE proceedings at a local high school and for conducting an unsanctioned chang’aa sting operation in Kimngoror area, Nandi County.

The officer was tasked with overseeing KCSE exams at Koiban Secondary School but went missing at around noon.

He is said to have proceeded to a homestead approximately a kilometre away from the school where he allegedly began searching for chang’aa, causing a commotion in the process prompting members of the public to react.

Police arrived there and arrested the officer for grilling.

MEANWHILE: Police are investigating an incident in which a body of a man was found lying on the roadside in Mlolongo off Mombasa Road.

The man had an injury in the head and lay in a pool of blood. Police say the victim may have been attacked at the scene. The body was moved to the mortuary.

In Shauri Moyo, a suspected thug was shot dead in a botched robbery. The suspect had been in the company of three others and were attacking and robbing locals when an alarm was raised alerting police.

The suspect was found with a homemade gun that had three bullets while his accomplices escaped on foot.

IN OTHER NEWS: A suspected thug was lynched by a mob in a botched robbery in Kawangware, Nairobi.

Police and locals said the victim had been in the company of three others on a motorbike robbing pedestrians when an alarm was raised.

A mob cornered and stoned him to death.
