Police in Naivasha are seeking a middle-aged trader over the brutal murder of his 25-year-old girlfriend in Moi Ndabi area.
The decomposing body of the woman was found dumped in a maize plantation one week after she went missing while in the company of her boyfriend.
The deceased was last seen on January 30, 2022 only for her naked and decomposing body to be discovered by a farmer on Wednesday morning.
Emotion ran high among relatives and friends as police from Kongoni police station moved in to collect the body and take it to Naivasha sub-county hospital mortuary.
A witness Alice Wangeci said that the woman was last seen with the boyfriend in the area trading center before she disappeared mysteriously.
She added that a report was made in the area police post as residents mounted a major search for her and that of the boyfriend.
“She was last seen in the company of her boyfriend ten days ago and we are still in shock after her decomposing body was found in one of the farms,” she said.
Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed the incident adding that they were seeking the boyfriend to record a statement with them.
He added that the suspect had gone into hiding and could not be traced since the woman whom they had cohabited for over two years was last seen.
“This is outright murder and we have mounted a manhunt for the boyfriend who is the main suspect in this incident,” he said.
Waweru added that an inquest file had been opened adding that a post mortem would reveal the real cause of the death.
“The body had started to decompose meaning it has stayed in the field for around a week and our officers have collected and taken it to Naivasha mortuary,” he said.
