• Details of foul play have emerged in the incident where the bodies of the three boys were found lying on a bed while the body of the mother hanging from the ceiling.

Tens of questions are now emerging over the controversial death of a woman and her three children in Gilgil last week.

Details of foul play have emerged in the incident where the bodies of the three boys were found lying on a bed while the body of the mother hanging from the ceiling.

It has emerged that the minors died a week ago due to poisoning while the mother died days later with questions over a gunny bag found around her head.

On Friday evening residents of Teachers-B estate were left in shock after finding the bodies of the woman identified as Maureen Akinyi and her three minors dead inside their house.

The woman allegedly took her life through the rope while the minors were killed through poisoning as their father, who is a Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) officer, served the country in Somalia.

Gilgil OCPD John Onditi said that they had not ruled out foul play in the incident with the sleuths following several leads.

He confirmed that the state of the minors’ bodies and that of the mother was different, adding that they were waiting for a post mortem report.

“We are looking at various angles in these deaths and we have involved a scene of crime officers to help get to the bottom of this incident,” he said.

A source involved in the investigations said that they were not ruling out foul play in the murder after several questions emerged.

The officer noted that initial investigations indicated that the minors died a week ago while the body of the woman was still fresh.

“The bodies of the minors had already started to decompose while there are many questions over the state of the woman who had a gunny bag around her head.”

“Why would the woman wear a gunny bag over her head when she is going to commit suicide and where was she for all that period after the minors died?” posed the officer.

On her part, Gilgil Mp Martha Wangari termed the incident as very scary and worrying as she called on parents to speak up about their challenges.

She noted that the woman had in a four-page document detailed her tribulations in the marriage before deciding to allegedly take her life and that of her three minors.

“There are many stories and theories in this incident and we hope that police will get to the bottom of this painful murder of innocent children,” she said.
