Four people escaped death narrowly after their vehicles burst into flames on Tuesday morning.

The 5:00 am accident that occurred at Ayweyo along Ahero-Katito road involved a trailer and a saloon car.

According to area residents, the trailer driver was trying to make a u-turn in the middle of the road after realising that he was headed to the wrong direction before the saloon car from Kisumu rammed on it.

"The truck driver got lost and as it was trying to make a U-turn towards Kisumu, the salon car that was overspeeding rammed on it before the truck exploded into flames," said Albert Onyango.

They appealed to relevant authorities to erect bumps along that particular road to avert such accidents in future.

In a police report seen by The Star, the driver of the saloon car had two passengers on board driving from Ahero junction heading towards Katito.

On reaching the area of the incident, he rammed into the trailer that was making a U-turn.

The driver of the lorry whose registration number was not legible fled after the accident.

The occupants of the saloon were rushed to Ahero Sub-County hospital where they are being treated for chest and neck pains.

Burnt remains of the vehicles have been towed to Ahero police station after the fire was contained by Kisumu County fire brigade.

Here are photos of the burnt vehicles.
