Police in Narok North Sub-county are investigating an incident in which a 42-year-old woman was hacked to death, and her clothes  dumped in a toilet at Olerai area,

Narok North Sub-county Police Commander, Frederick Shiundu, however, said a 27-year-old woman who was a roommate to the deceased, was held for questioning after preliminary investigations into the incident, indicating that she took part in the heinous crime.

He said reports indicate that the two women were living together in a rented house where they are suspected to have disagreed after a drinking spree before one of the women killed the other.

“We were informed by the members of the public that there were two people fighting in the house, when we arrived we met one of the women lying in a pool of blood, after being cut severally on her body,” he said.

Siundu said a Maasai sword, believed to have been used to commit the crime and clothes with bloodstains were recovered from the toilet and will be used as exhibits by the prosecutors in court.

“The two are suspected to be drunk at the time of the incident because there were beer bottles in the room where the crime occurred,” he said.

He confirmed that the body of the deceased was taken to Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation as police continued with investigations.

While sending condolences messages to the deceased family, the Police Boss commended the members of the public for alerting the police and leading the police to recover the clothing and knife used to commit the crime.

He reminded the members of the public that it is illegal to take the law into their hands, asking residents to look for alternative ways of resolving conflicts instead of killing.
