The newly employed Assistant Chief for Kiamugumo Sub-Location in Kirinyaga East Sub-County, Mr Denis Njeru, was last night allegedly murdered by his wife.
The deceased mother, who is also a nominated Member of the County Assembly (MCA), Ms Wanjiru Njeru, said the wife stabbed the husband to death in the kitchen at about 10 pm under unclear circumstances.
The late Njeru,36, lived in the same homestead with his mother.
“We heard my daughter in law screaming at about 10 pm that she had accidentally stabbed the husband in the kitchen. On rushing to the house we found Njeru lying on the floor screaming with blood gushing from the fresh stab wound,’’ the mother narrated.
The MCA explained how they quickly picked and rushed him to Kerugoya Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Ms Njeru said the young couple with two small children had been living peacefully and wondered what could have led to the suspected murder.
The wife has since been arrested by police for interrogation.
