Babu Owino free from attempted murder charge after DJ Evolve withdraws case

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino is smiling from ear to ear, as he has been set free in the attempted murder case against Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve.

The ruling happened today after the court allowed the withdrawal of the case by DJ Evolve. This doesn't mean that the politician will not be prosecuted in the second count of behaving disorderly while carrying a firearm.

The judge presiding over the case, Magistrate Bernard Ochoi, set Babu free after the MP had an out-of-court settlement with DJ evolve.

DJ Evolve's family lawyer told the court that they are in the last stages of the negotiations.

Senior principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi heard that the only thing holding them back was documents that they had to present to the prosecution.

The prosecution confirmed talks had been ongoing between the parties. The court heard that the prosecution held two meetings between Babu and Evolve together with the lawyers.

This is after the court allowed the withdrawal of the case by DJ Evolve. The MP was charged with attempting to kill Evolve whom he shot in a club in Kilimani, Nairobi, in 2020.

DJ Evolve was admitted and placed in the ICU at Nairobi Hospital on January 17, after his shooting at Nairobi's B-Club.
