A twenty-year-old girl on Monday morning committed suicide in Kongoni center in Naivasha after falling out with her boyfriend whom she accused of having an extra-marital affair.

The body of the woman was found by members of the public hanging from a tree near the trading center that is located 40kms from Naivasha town.

A witness, Sarah Waithera, said that the woman had for some time threatened to take her life as she was not ready to share the man with another person.

“We talked to her and she assured us that she would not commit suicide but we were shocked on learning that she had taken her life using a rope,” she said.

Meanwhile, residents of Kayole estate in Naivasha are trying to come to terms with the brutal murder of one of the area traders on Sunday night.

The 32-year-old woman who operated several quarries was bludgeoned to death using a hammer by thugs who had raided her home in the estate located off the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

During the incident, the thugs crushed her skull and fractured one of her legs using the huge hammer used in one of her quarries.

Emotions ran high as police moved in to collect the body barely a week after another man was murdered by unknown persons in the estate.

Area MCA Simon Wanango said that the woman had earlier in the day paid her workers in the quarries before attending a local women group meeting.

He said that the thugs who lay in wait inside her plot killed her before making away with some cash that she had received from the women’s meeting.

“The killers are inhumane as they crushed her head and leg using a hammer found in the compound before making away with the cash,” he said while calling on police to track the suspects.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed both cases noting that the bodies had been collected and taken to the Naivasha sub-county hospital mortuary.

“In the murder case we are following some leads and expect to make arrests soon while we have opened an inquest file in the suicide incident,” he said.
