Nakuru scrap dealer arrested for allegedly dealing in arms

Police are holding a man in Nakuru over claims of illegally dealing in arms.

The suspect identified as John Mbuthia, 33 is a scrap metal dealer and was arrested in the Langa Langa area after locals raised alarm over suspicious luggage in his yard.

This was after thousands of spent bullet cartridges were recovered together with copper wires suspected to have been vandalized from Kenya power transformers.

Police suspect that the man is one of the groups that has been supplying criminals with arms and weapons.

A woman who is said to be the mastermind of this trade is still at large as police intensify her search.

The suspect will be arraigned today at Nakuru law court.
