A middle-aged man has been slapped with a Sh25,000 fine for assaulting two police officers at Chepareria shopping centre, within West Pokot county last month.

Joseph Plimo was convicted on his own plea of guilty by the Kapenguria Law Court Principal Magistrate Margaret Nanjala for the offence he committed on October 24, 2021.

During the proceedings, the court heard that Plimo attacked the two officers who were on duty causing them bodily harm.

The prosecution held that one of the officers received several punches on the chest, while the other suffered a swollen face and had his T-shirt torn by the assailant.

The accused was also found guilty of creating a disturbance, threatening to kill and being in possession of narcotic drugs.

The court ordered him to pay Sh25,000 or in default serve three months in prison.
