A resident of Chebown village in Kericho County murdered his wife under unclear circumstances, Kericho County Police Commander Silas Gichunge has confirmed.

The incident happened early in the morning where the neighbours heard the commotion, which prompted them to run to the scene.

Efforts to rescue Winny Chepkemoi were not fruitful as she died of the injuries she sustained, it is believed that the suspect Ronald Bii is still at large and is armed and dangerous.

The deceased body was taken to the Kapkatet Hospital mortuary.

Area chief  Raymond Bii alerted the security officers who rushed to the crime scene and calmed the angry villagers who were demanding to torch him

Cases of murder have been rampant in Kericho County and recently a son killed his father and buried him in Ainamoi Sub-county due to unknown reasons on Saturday, October 16, 2021, but irate members of the public pursued him and beat him to death.

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man in possession of several bullets in Kenya Forestry Service (KFS) was arrested by Kericho police officers after a tip-off by the members of the public from Nyagacho Village.

Silas Gichunge urged everybody to be vigilant and always speak out when there are complicated matters in the families or relationships, especially young people instead of resorting to killing.

He further called on married couples to always seek counselling services to be guided on psycho-social matters or depression.
