Child trafficker who worked as health officer arrested

A 27-year-old man from Bumula constituency in Bungoma County was yesterday fined Sh30million or in default serves 31 years imprisonment for child trafficking.

Busia Chief Magistrate Lucy Ambasi read the tough judgment after Evans Shiundu admitted to have participated in kidnapping a standard four pupil at Siyombe primary in Bungoma County recently.

The pupil was found in a health officer’s house in Nambale Sub County believed to be a friend to the accused.

Shiundu was arrested by Funyula police officers last Friday after he was suspected to have kidnapped the minor.

Police are also said to have arrested the health officer but released him hours later under unclear circumstances.
