A 17-year-old boy mysteriously disappeared as he joined his peers on a journey that was intended to begin a new term as schools opened towards the end of July.

The boy identified as Gravan Mogaka Hamisi, a form four student at Sawagongo High School in Siaya county, left their home in Nyamira on July 28, 2021, on his way to school and that was the last time he was seen or heard.

According to the father, Evans Arisa, it is suspected that Gravan’s last known whereabouts could have been around Kisumu or Siaya town as the boy never made it to school.

Arisa further added that the disappearance of his son could have gone unnoticed for much longer had it not been for a call he received from his son’s school inquiring about the payment of his delayed fees.

It is only after he informed the school that his son was in possession of a banking slip of the said fees that it was realised that Gravan was not present in school and never reported to the opening date.

The matter has since been reported to the police at Kerito Police post in Nyamira, Sawagongo Police Post, DCI Siaya, and the family also reached out to The Director of Education for Siaya County.

The family is appealing to anyone with information on the whereabouts of their son to contact the nearest police station.
